i am trying to download a game demo, and it says it's taking 2 hours and 45 min to download! it's only 314MB, and i have a new dell dimension 5100 with broadband, so i don't think it should take this long. what are some things i can do to speed this up? thanks.. Freddy
You can only download as fast as a server can upload so there might be something wrong with the server, try closing it out and downloading it again, if it is still slow see if there is another site you can download it from!
From what I understood flashFX sends out multiple requests for a file and downloads it using multiple connections,(1 connection maybe 20kb/s, 10 connections maybe 20 and higher kb/s) a bit like Download Accelerator Pro. You can speed up loading times for web sites in Firefox in a similar way.
sorry everybody. i wasn't getting my email notifications. all this time i was thinking that nobody got back to me! whoops.. anyway, my broadband is 10Mbps (Comcast). the games i've downloaded aren't TOO popular, but i'm not sure how many are downloading it. i'm using Gamespot's site. are they any good? is there a better one to get games from? so shouldn't my computer be downloading much faster than that? i downloaded another one today under 200 MB that took over an hour! i don't get it. is there anything i can check or change to make it faster? thanks..
