slow hard drive???

i bought a refurb hard drive for my notebook. when i installing an OS it takes like 2 hours and when i restarted it it just a blank screen. so i went to DOS and make a windows partition. now that i have a partition, why it's to slow to load? i already put a command.com to the hard drive but nothing happen. do have any idea guys plsss. help me here...

almost all notebook drives are 3600RPM (somewhere around that, I don't havethe exact number), SeaGate has a 5400 out.
Is the OS win98?

hmmm i dont no everything about computers but even my moms 13 year old computer isnt that bad and i think hers is liek a 3600 or somewheer round there everything works on hers like paint and mineseeper!!!!!:eek: its great lol jk but a 4200 i dont thing should have ne problems

4200 although there was a push to raise it to 5400 to improve performance, all the [dang] people wanting tiny and cute laptops forced it back to the 3600 mark.
