Slow Process (Applications)

I had a computer in the past that was working really slow. I then changed the computer to a new one and it again was slow. I have now changed it once again and it is slow again. Both three systems had a different hard disk and different hardware of their own. The same software was installed. But, I still can't figure out what the this problem might be. I must be a process issue, an application consuming a lot of processing power. Apart from the Task Manager and seeing which are the most processes being used, can someone suggest some other methods please?

We need more information. What application is it? What operating system(s)? Is it only this one application slowing down your PC?

I don't know what type of application is slowing the process. The computer is running Windows 8. The thing is that whenever you try and use the computer, it tends to slow down dramatically and then come back to a 'normal' state after a while. After changed three computers, I still can't figure out what might be wrong with it. The computer's hardware has been all changed (including the hard disk). So, it must be an application that's slowing everything down. Is there a way how I can find out what's causing this perhaps?

Look at the performance tab in task manager, are the CPU, Memory, or Disk graphs spiked? if so, look under processes to find what's consuming those resources.
