Need other specs on your computer processor os programs running do you have malware removal and virus removal software?

with a 2.0ghz and only 512 you are going to have a slower then average computer my suggestions would be to run like adaware ccleaner and spybot and then also defrag and do disk clean up on it.

I doubt he has an infection, his computer is not up to todays standards... i would reccomend defragging first.

As your install gets older it gets slower but there are ways to speed it up. You can google a bunch if you want more just be careful if it has you editing the registry. Ask someone here if you are unsure about anything you find.
