Hi

download speed has dropped to 500kb to 1mb...

when using speedtest online Atlanta and Springfield Missouri servers are fast at 10mbs..I'm 70 miles south of Branson Missouri in Ar......they were having problems from the tornado there but now they claim everything is great..could my computer alsis very slow if i try eastern missouri

to me it sounds like the problem is down the line..any clue?
ps it fixed itself for awhile late last night

it sounds like a problem with your internet, have you contacted your internet service provider?

yes they claim the trouble is fixed.....
on a side note i was talking to Acer tech support India version and he had me uninstall the internet drivers... claimed when i rebooted they would re-install nope had to use the recovery option to re-install windows 7..I haven't even had it 24 hours:mad:

Reinstalled windows to fix a network issue ? talk about cracking a peanut with a sledge hammer ,

System restore would have been your friend in that situation , do you still have the old pc to test the internet connection

I do...But i thought since the speep test sowed some servers as being fast that it was an internet problem

but I can re hook it up?

yes hook up the old computer and run speedtest online ,take a note,
hook up new computer and do the same thing and take a note, come back here and tell us the speeds. And then tell us the speeds that your internet is suposed to be.

i think he meant he has 10MB service and that his internet dropped between 500kb-1mb

Ah, that make more sense.

Are you using wireless or a wired connection? Couple of things you can do.

If using either wired or wireless, first thing to do would be turn off and on your router.

Next, plug your computer into the router using a wired connection (if you were before) and run a speedtest. Copy the results or memorize them. Then plug your computer directly into the modem and run a speedtest. If its faster while plugged into your modem, something's wrong with your router.
