Slow speeds 0.1mb HELP!

I have been having a problems with a line fault where I get disconnects when I use the phone and the speed is very slow (0.1MB via speedtest). A telephone engineer came out and found he was getting 0.6mb at test socket via his testing equipment. He then adjusted the line outside and was getting 3MB at the telephone pole and achieved 2.5MB at my test socket BUT I am still getting 0.1MB via speedtest on my computer even though I am pluged directly into the test socket with adsl cable, although currently I can use the phone and stay connected to the Internet. He dosn't know why I'm getting such slow speeds at my computer and neither do I.

I am using a NETGEAR DG834G v4 and switched to a NETGEAR DG834G v5, still the same problem and both wired connections. I have also changed adsl filter and adsl cable (10m and 2m lenght) to no avail.

I just don't understand, I looked at the engineer's machine that he plugged into the socket and his reading was download 2.5MB/upload 0.5MB (after he adjusted the line) and I'm getting 0.1MB download/0.33MB upload via speed test.

I have tested this on two computers: Q6600,4gb ram, 8800gt, vista64 AND a Windows XP computer 4gb ram, 6800gs and still same slow speed.

Could it be a router setting issue with this particular make? I am not that savy with routers and would appreciate any help.

ADSL Link Downstream/ Upstream
Connection Speed 768 kbps/ 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db/ 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db / 8 db

From the router

Now getting 0.67MB download via speed test. Things maybe on the way up. What does anyone make of these line attenuation and noise margin results?

When you do your speed test are you choosing a server that is near you? If you don't then thats why you are getting the slow speed. Do another speedtest and copy and paste the forum link so that we can see it here.
