Slow startup

I have a pentium 4 PC with 2Ghz, 512RAM, Windows XP Home SP2. The time when I first bought my desktop PC, the windows startup loading bar which launches right after BIOS manufacturer, was usually loaded after about 5 times of the bar moving to the other end. But as I have used it for a long time already, I noticed that the loading bar begins to load longer and longer which now loads for about 20 times before reaching the login screen.
I have tried limiting the startup applications to solve this issue, however to no avail. Currently I have about 24 processes running at startup. However the windows startup loading bar remains to load 20 times which is abnormal and slow.

Can please leave some advice. Thanks.

The things on those links should work, XP is XP even if it's XP 64 :)

why doesn't it? you asked if you could get your version of windows to boot faster, how isn't that on topic?

You've got a faster boot time than me (way faster) but I haven't done a good registry clean in a long time. The things on those links should work, XP is XP even if it's XP 64 :)

you post looks odd now,.. i deleted my post, since it looks too much like bragging to me :o.
(for those just reading this, I posted that my boot time was relatively fast already, and wondered if that could help it to go even faster =) 1,5 windows loading bar's atm, and would be great if it was faster :) )

wouldnt a system restore help? Back-up your files and restore windows. It'll be as good as new.
