Slow web page loading on desktop

I'm guessing my desktop's operating system (Windows 7) is the problem. I have fiber optic internet service, my router is less than a year old, and my wireless adapter is 2 weeks old. The oldest part of the chain is the OS, but I wanted to see what you more knowledgeable guys thought...if it is the OS, is there a way to clean it up so it loads faster? The only thing it's used for is surfing the web...

If it's an 802.11 A/B/G/N adapter it's going to be slow because that's 2.4Ghz adapters.
If you got a dual-band adapter that is AC standard or newer but still connected it to a 2.4Ghz network instead of a 5Ghz network it is going to be slow.

Need to know what specific adapter and what specific router you have.
