Slow wireless connection, used to be fast

I got the system redone with the latest wireless adapters from ATT about 3 weeks ago. Things were pretty good but here lately they slowed to be worse than before. What gives? It seems when I buy a wireless deal like cell phone or like the wireless connection on my PC , it works wonderful for a few weeks and then the connection slows?:( Do I need to keep renewing my IP address?
 
Also make sure you haven't got any background tasks/programs running using the internet connection especially such programs as P2P (utorrent) as they can use up a lot of bandwidth if they are seeding/uploading.
