Slowly, but gradually

I am slowly but surely upgrading my computer bit by bit
I have a really poor mother boad - ASROCk k7swi
512mb ram (upgraded from 256mb today) ddr
AMD xp 2000+
40gb hard drive

I am slowly upgrading parts of this computer

I know it seems poor but is good on the whole. The computer is rarely used for serious gaming, used for internet gaming everyday, from site likes miniclip
Image editing would like to be taken more seriously - and the computer crashes often - so maybe upgrading certain components would help stop this:confused:

Next up, i want to either change the mobo or the cpu
I guess that the motherboard will be the most serious change to my computer, so a bigger change would be worth it in the long run, or maybe the cpu improvement would get the most out of my motherboard???
I have around £80 to spend on either
Thanks

Thats what, 140 USD? You can get a decent mobo for that price. Wait off on the CPU until you have a better mobo that can support a better CPU.

Yeah about 140 - 150 USD - any1 got anything to recommend...baring in mind i also want something that is future proof

I would look at a new mobo and maybe another 512 MB of memory. What kind of CPU do you have right now?

D

it says up there its a AMD XP2000+, not exactly highend these days, thats definately worth an upgrade, get to at least SKT939, but with AMD AM2 socket coming out, you might want to get that in a new mobo purchase aswell....
