SMALL hd display?

My 17" laptop has 1080p, 1920x1080 resolution, and that's by no means unusual.
So now that I'm getting a desktop, I'm surprised to find that I can't get 1080p resolution in hardly anything smaller than 24"!
Or is there a smaller screen out there, that's still high definition?

Also, just generally-- recommended screens for under $200?
