k ive just completely reinstalled my windows and completely updated it and installed the drivers the way i wanted it and took of all the useless crap. now my friend did excactly the same with excactly the same laptop. and when i want to make an image with excactly the same program he used. mine is more than a gig bigger.

i dont have an extra disk at hand right now so can anyone help me?

i tried cleaning out everything like removing obsolete windows programs and emptying the system restore and looking into the windows and program files for deleting obsolete crap. and its stil huge (btw he didnt remove all that crap) and the only thing i can find from what i dont know what it is is a hidden file directly under my c: disc thats called pagefile.sys and its a freaking 2 gig big anyone know what this is and if i can remove it. if not is there anything else i can try?

Oh, so that means you have a second parition on the disk.. Im not sure how to get it off. Although its not hard to figure out if you have the windows CD.

no i didnt ment it like that i ment i have a disk which contains 5gig of data and i want to delete 1 gig so that its small enough. (i do have a second partition but i dont want to lose cos thats where the image is going)

btw i also turned of system restore completely now didnt help

Wait.. What? So how big is the hard drive in the first place? And if you want to delete 1gb, or whatever you wanna do, just get a compressing program. But the thing is that unless you burn this image or whatever to a disk/flashdrive, your not getting it to the other partition, because its like a giant brick all, totally inacessiable by the other parition..

Is both computers the same with the same specs? Also are both computers with the same file system (NTFS/FAT32)? As for the pagefile, don't delete it. If you want, you lower the virtual memory of your system. You can also delete all the temp files in your Local Settings folder. What are you using for making a image? Do you have a DVD-burner? Some programs can do a back up to multiple discs if needed (example: Acronis).

yep they are totally the same and im already using acronis. as for the other guy when youve got 2 partitions you can make a image of one and place it directly on the other already did it before. this is the partition i wanna make an image of: 68gig big with 5.2gig in use and i want to make it about 4gig and the second partition is 6gig but ive already got some stuff standing on it which i dont want to take off

could do that but i want an image. btw i just made the second partition bigger so the image would fit on it thnx for ur help anyways guys :D

Before you make the mirror image, you can set virtual memory (pagefile.sys) as zero , so can save a lot of space .
Establish again while resuming from the mirror image.

btw my english is not good .So i do not know whether I understand your meaning .

you understanded it just fine but i already tried that and i didnt went down to the size i wanted so i just made the partition to put the image on bigger

I often help my system to make mirror image , because I never put antivirus software.
I resumes from the mirror image when problematic for system.

I help my system to make mirror image with ghost 8.0, I feel it is very handy .
