hi all, i have a compaq desktop hear, and when it boots, its giving me this erorr, SMART, Back up and replace, press F2 to boot, i press F2, and it boots. The pc does seam to run ok, but i have a felling that the hard drive may be on its way out. I have checked the bios for a setting to disable the SMART warning and i cant find it. Is there a way i can erase the smart erorr or fix my hard drive? i really don't have any money for a new HD at this time. Thx :)

SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. It pretty much justt keeps track of certain information on your hard drive and if it sees something that may cause data loss it will tell you. It sounds like something is going wrong with your hard drive, but it may not necessarily need replacing right away. Just back up all your data and hope it doesnt crash anytime soon. You should be able to turn it off within the BIOS, you might want to look again.
