SMB Share

I have a SMB share on a Windows Pro 10 machine. I can access it through my LAN just fine.

The issue is when I VPN in I cannot access the SMB share. I can't even PING it. I can access and PING other shares on my network but not this particular one. Meaning it's not a firewall issue.

I have tried changing the IP and rebooting the PC. I still get nothing.

There is something on this Windows Pro 10 machine that is stopping from accessing the share.

Getting warmer. After disabling the Windows 10 firewall I was able connect to the share through the VPN.

What am I missing???

Add the VPN subnet as an allowed address space in the windows firewall. By default the firewall allows shares on the local LAN but other address space is viewed as external.

I found it.

It wasn't the SOHO firewall.

For some reason NETLOGON (port 445) was disable on the Windows firewall. Weird but it's working now.

Why would this change? Hackers?

Why would it be the soho firewall when we already identified Windows firewall :p

Netlogon by default is not 'enabled' as an allow action on Windows Firewall.
