so i been thinking about picking up one of the 6 core amds thoughts!

Whats the point unless you want bragging rights most software has just caught up with quad core, by the time it gets to use those cores your cpu will be out of date

To upgrade from your 7750, it will be huge. Might as well go with the hex core rather than a few bucks less for a 955.

Looking at your sig, looks like you need a GPU upgrade first though LOL.

Thread about the PhenomII X6

"I think i7 860 and i7 930 is as good (if not better) overall than 1090T, specially in gaming. Phenom II X6 usually wins in heavily multi-threaded like some of 3d redenring applications, but the difference is small though. However, in applications that are not heavily multi-threaded, Phenom X6 performs just like Phenom X4, sometimes slower" - Maroon1

400 for all 3 for that setup

i figure i can get 150-200 off craigslist for my current board, cpu and ram

but i looked into an i5 or i7 and it would cost me more than what i can afford after picking up a nice board.

the board i picked for the amd build i like for one the color would go great with my case and its cheap lol

That board is kinda crappy, do you NEED a micro ATX board or can your case handle a full ATX board?

For a few bucks more, atleast get this ram-

It's 1600 cas8 instead of 1333 cas 9, WAAAYYYY better for $10 more.

But I also recommend instead of the AMD the I5 750 with this board-

Just make sure the board you get has a BIOS update to support the new x6s. Mine is great. Depending on the games you play it plays better than an i7. I play Empire Total war and it runs this game amazinly. I am really happy with it.

i chose that board cuz its cheaper and it supports the amd cpu, and it would go good with my case and work well enough till i was able to get money for a better one

It doesn't take much more to just get a way better board now....and get the ram I linked too, for $10 more it's WAYYY better.

Edit- Looky here, open box for a 790xt UD4P.......this is a STEAL, I have this board and it is awesome man. Get it NOW!!!

Open box doesnt have the I/O plate and other accessories generally.

In a $400 budget, you should be able to afford this board which totally kills that cheaper asrock in features and performance:

[strike]+1 to the Gskill ripjaws, excellent memory. If you want to save $4 though A-Data is good stuff as well(uses same IC's as the ripjaws if im not mistaken):

CPU is $199 at ewiz w/ free shipping:

EDIT:
Combo deal with the 1055T and Ripjaws, saves $20:

This board is another good option:

The only way i would go 1156 is 1366 is i7, as in real world usage the hyperthreading helps with multitasking a bit more than without.

.

Most of the time they come with everything actually ;) They just have to make that disclaimer in case something isn't included. Every person I've seen buy open box (about 3 times) they've told me it had everything retail in it.

And sorry but how exactly is that board better??? Because it has two sata3 ports and one USB3 port? That won't even matter. It has the same chipsets, and it doesn't have a second x16 slot like the cheaper one I linked too. They both support 16gb ram, and ddr3-1600. I would find the second x16 slot to be way more useful.

I've purchased open box motherboards before as well, and a majority have come bone dry as far as accessories, not even in original packaging, just a white box with the motherboard.

The Extreme3 has a better cpu VRM design, utilizing higher end stuff than the M3A770DE, and if you are buying a Phenom II X6 is really within your favor to get as much as you can out of overclocking it. Next, the 770 is limited to 4x on the 2nd pcie slot, which is going to cause a large performance hit if it is used for anything like crossfire, which makes it pretty much useless for that usage. It also has a better audio chipset onboard(VIA's sound chipsets leave alot to be desired), and well as purely japanese capacitors on the board.

Ehh, I'd rather have the 790xt UD4P with no I/O plate and accessories than a 770 chipset retail.

As for the second slot, nothing below a 4870 would be restricted by 4x in Xfire, and also if you are a Nvidia user you can use the second slot for a dedicated PhysX and/or folding card as well, or anything really lots of stuff besides video cards can use a x16 slot....you have no options with that other 770 board for expansion.

I/O plates are overrated, just get the UD4P you won't be unhappy I promise you that, it's a sweet board.
