So i have decied on a processor now what?

Alrighty i decided on the intel core2 quad q9450 its a beast yet still in my price range. now think i need to find a motherboard and chipset that will support it? id like a chipset so that i can add some video sound lan cards plus whatever else is new and exciting these days any ideas or builds?

Get the Q9550, its only $10.00 more on Newegg, at $339. With my Q9450, I use the P45 chipset. The ASUS P5Q Series motherboards are very good

I use the P5Q-Premium Motherboard. In the morning, if nobody has replied with a build, I can help you pick out parts, but its 3:20AM here, and I need some sleep

alright thanks everyone i did decide for the q9550 instead, (haha had to twist my arm tho ) well basically its going to b used for gaming surfing photoshop and just random other stuff. i do have some ideas as to what id like in it so that should help narrow down a mobo if not cross them all out. heres the criteria

-compatable with intel core2 quad Q9550
-no onboard graphics-(i will be adding a geforce card)
-either decent onboard sound or i can add a card
-6 usb ports and if possible a firewire
basically im looking for a mobo that doesnt close any windows or very few and will fit in somesort of atx case. as you can see i like to keep my options open and havin ome spare places to stick another card or somthing ould help! it will eventually be liquidcooled and i dont really have a budget i prefer to think of it as u get what u pay for. so like top of the line but not crossing that line thanks. and if it helps i would to put it a dvd writer with lightscribe (for all those labelless backup dvs) ok thanks for reading i hope we can find somthing!!! by the way i really appreciate it!

if it has onboard graphics, they autodisable when you stick your geforce in, so it makes no difference

dunno about the firewire, otherwise yes

a firewire / usb PCI card is cheap anyway so its not a huge deal

if you want the core2quad, go for the P45 chipset. it also supports a lot of new stuff like pci-express 2.0 and ddr3

its got decent integrated sound, and optical out so you can rig it into a home cinema etc...

you sure you want geforce though? that board supports ATI crossfire
