So, is there a better GPU I could get?

It looks like the one I linked to is better than those two cards you mentioned and the one you linked to only seems slightly faster.

no. That is not right. A 650ti is a joke. 7850 outperforms it and 7870 crushes it like no tomorrow. A 7870 is slightly faster or the same as a 6970 (though some of it comes from speed. Clock the 6970 to 1100 and your hitting the same basic scores). Either way, you are not going to match a 7850 with a 650ti.
 
That is the wrong way to compare. That is like, for lack of a better example, saying that a 4GHz Pentium 4 is faster than a 3GHz Core 2 quad. It just does not work that way. The architectures are different, and they do things in a different way.

The 7870 is worth the $40. Make sure and OC it to 1100/1200 ish to get the most for your money.
 
Alright cool. Added to my list, hopefully I'll get a job soon and will be able to get it :D

I thought you actually know some about components :rolleyes: although now that i think about it i dont remember seeing you in the build threads much or at all really...yet you have nearly 4.5k posts, where'd they all come from?
 
Yeah as the 7870 isn't much more I'd go for it. But if you're stuck at 200, then the 7850 you chose will be fine. Make sure you get a 2GB card though.

Either card totally beats the 650 Ti.

I do, lol. I just know that I'm not the ultimate wizard on these things, especially on GPU specifications :P

Early last year I was posting like mad in the build threads, averaging 100 posts a day, but I stopped when I realized I couldn't keep it up, I'd offer advice that everybody disagreed with, and I never was good at building virtual builds with Newegg product pages :P

Yeah, I'm going for 2 GB, that's for certain. Sick of having a below-average GPU. And I'm going to try and save for the 7870.

Would like to know what exactly makes them better than the 650 Ti, for future reference.
