So maybe I need more RAM

I have just 884MB free space left. I've defragged, disc-cleaned, even deleted several movies from My Doc's.

Any ideas?

It's a 16.9 capacity.

Well I think what you are referring to is hard drive space. More RAM would make your computer run faster, more hard drive space would make it so you can save more stuff.

With a laptop, it is hard to upgrade the hard drive. You could buy an external drive to just bring from place to place with you.

Hard drive space - exactly. I WAS considering an external drive (usb). Or maybe copying all my files to a disc. Then its a buster keep changing, so maybe the former IS a better option.

yes, it would be hard, what kind of laptop is it?

Its an Acer Aspire 3610. 1.50 GHz, 504MB of RAM.

The 3610 can handle some pretty large hard drives and they are really easy to change; the only problem is that you wont be able to run a disk-to-disk recovery on the unit as it'll need a NAPP restore (which is what the Acer engineers do); if you didn't know you can do a disk to disk at boot by pressing Alt+F10 at the splash screen when you turn your system on.
Now if you dont use this feature, it wont matter and you can pick any HDD you want. I've found that 100Gb is about the sweet spot but your budget will play a role in your decsision.
If you do decide to get a new hard disk i would steer clear of the samsung notebook drives because there tends to be a lot of failures on these for some odd reason.

I've worked out what has been taking up all this hard-drive capacity.

Limewire's library. Especially the 'Incomplete Files' file.

Hit the delete button, and now 4.73GB of free space.
