So what are my options

Hey guys I'm getting ready to move into my dorm and I need to decide what I'm going to do about a TV. This is basically what I have. I have a computer with one open PCI slot for a TV tuner. I have a 17" monitor that I could use for a TV (I think). I was looking to maybe get either another 17" LCD TV or a 22" LCD TV. I was thinking maybe using the 22" TV as my main monitor. If I got the TV tuner card, would a dual monitor setup with a 17" monitor as my TV and a 22" TV as my monitor work? In other words, would I be able to watch TV on my small monitor while I use the TV as my main monitor. My monitor only has VGA input and the TV's I'm looking at have every input. Please any suggestions? I'm leaving in a week!

Yes, that will work. You can do the dual display.

But you will need a DVI to VGA adaptor for your video card.

What about sound? For both options.

1. 17" monitor as my secondary monitor to use as my TV. 22" TV to use as my main monitor.

2. 17" monitor as my secondary monitor to use as my TV. 22" monitor to use as my main.

I suppose the second option is almost exactly like the first. And would it be preferable to have the monitors the same size if they were going to be a dual monitor system? This is just an opinion.

Another quick question somewhat off topic but pertains to the issue. What about the cable TV? I know I can buy a TV tuner for about $30 on NewEgg. As long as I have Vista with Media Center it should just be a plug and play deal right? And if I have a cable splitter would I be able to put 2 separate and independent TV's on the two resulting cables?
