So what can I do with my ASUS eee laptop?

This thing is worse than dial-up and probably should be destroyed because of all the frustration it causes me.

I only use it to play Pandora music through my Garage Stereo System, but it takes about a ½ hour just load up from off and then it is constantly having buffering problems. I’ve deleted everything I can think of trying to speed things up and I think it’s only getting worst. There nothing else that can operate on it even the MS word start doesn’t work.

Before I beat it to death with a sledge, is there any other thing I might be able to do with it? It is running on Win7 and I did look into upgrading the memory on YouTube, but that is way out of my range of expertize. I melted down a smartphone trying to replace the screen and there is no telling what might happen with the laptop. LOL

Probably a damaged or failing drive if it's honestly taking that long. You can use a live USB of Ubuntu or something to rule that out.

I think the Asus e is one of those mini laptops and is quite old. The problem is, assuming it isn't something like the HDD starting to go, is that it it uses a slow processor, the Intel Atom I think, and originally came with Win Xp and only 2 Gig of RAM. Windows 7 is much more memory hungry and works best with a minimum of 4Gb and prefers 8. I think beers suggestion is a good one although I would go one further and say install Linux and use that rather than Windows. I will say that Linux is a big learning curve but it really is the way to go with older computers if you want to keep them going. The alternative is to buy a new computer. It's Christmas, go on treat yourself.

It is a very cheap computer and I bought it in a hurry while on a trip out of town because I forgot my Dell Laptop. I'd be happy if it only played Pandora and I'd like it better if I didn't have to load up Goggle chrome first.

Even if it only has 1GB of RAM you should be able to get it to work decently for what you want. Sounds like you need a fresh install of Windows, clear of anything extra other than what you need for Pandora. I wouldn't use Chrome either, it's a resource monster. If Pandora is all you do, just use Internet Explorer. You could probably even get away with no anti virus software if you only go to that one website.

I'm able to run Adobe Audition to edit music on a micro laptop with an 800mhz processor and 1GB of ram on Windows 7 (Although it is a Lite version).

Thanks, I tried to delete everything I could think of, but then now I get a “mouse pad driver missing” warning even though the mouse pad still works. I didn’t know that chrome used a lot of resources. I’ll uninstall that too see if that helps. I haven’t used it since I last posted because it was just too frustrating.

I would like to get it working again because I’ve been using my tablet for Pandora and somehow the Wi-Fi quit and it went to 4G instead without me knowing, I got a text message that I went over my data allowance and they were charging me $15, so now I don’t want to take a chance on another over charge and am not listing to Pandora at all.

I just bought me a new HP ENVY Laptop with 12 GB memory and 1 TB Hybrid Drive, but it still would be nice to use the Asus for Pandora so that I can move around freely with the laptop without unplugging the stereo connector.

Lmao, "Mouse Pad Driver" sounds like head light fluid to me.

Ideally you'd be reinstalling the entire OS from scratch to get the best out of your computer. But see what your way does first, see if you need to go that far.

I don't know what you mean by "head light fluid". You mean that its also an error or has something taken over my computer giving me false info?
I don't know how to reinstall Windows 7 on this computer because I didn't get a disk for it. I've been too busy to do anymore to it today, but I probably try fooling with it tomorrow

I agree with those that say there must be a problem if the thing is really taking 1/2 hour to boot. We had 4 of the Acer Aspire One netbooks and 2 of the Asus eeePC netbooks in our family and none of them ever took that long to boot. I used my netbook for about 6 years, it came with Win XP but I installed Win 7 Pro, then Win 8.1 Pro and finally Win 10 Pro. It ran Win 8 and Win 10 better than it ever ran XP. Modern apps from the Windows Store work really well on those Atom processor based systems.

Run autoruns and see what crap might be starting up. But DON'T go disabling stuff you know nothing about. In fact, run Autoruns, save the arn file and upload here so I can see what you have running there.

Other than that, use what was suggested: Linux. You would boot a CD with an external USB CD drive or boot a properly formatted USB stick using Rufus with Linux.

On that Comp. press F2 key to enter BIOS or ESC key to enter boot menu which would be for booting a USB CD drive or USB stick with Linux. https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1862951&page=2&s=67d9d524348bdbb5f0ec9855039b117f
