When I get my computer (ordered from cyberpower inc.) What are the steps I should take to get it running to its full potential? such as downloading drivers, tweaks, etc...Thanks for the help everyone

Hey

Well there are several things I would personally do. I suppose Windows will be pre-installed.

1. Install newest Windows XP updates, SP2 etc...
2. Install newest chipset drivers
3. Install newest graphics drivers
4. Install newest sound drivers
5. Install newest DirectX
6. Install browsers
7. Install WinRAR or WinZIP or...
8. Install an antivirus program, anti-spyware and adware program...
9. Backup current installation :P

That should get you started

This will be my first time doing all this by myself so...

How do you go about intalling the most recent drivers such as chipset and video card, etc. I know you go to the website of the company that makes the video card for example but which one do you download? Think you could give me a link to say.... the most recent driver for the 7800gt? Sorry I have never done this before and i dont want to mess anything up

ehm if it's nvidia go to the nvidia site i guess.. for the rest of the drivers always check in the manufacturer's site first... if you can't find it try google or driverguide.com

Any body? I think I might have found the right driver for my EVGA 7800GT. Does this look about right?
http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/...t.asp?switch=2

The link is no good. I get the following

No Drivers Found

We're sorry, but the drivers you are searching for are not available. Please contact our Tech Support at 888/881-EVGA (3842) or through our Tech Support Form.

In response to the Following quote, You have to instal them after you download them.

So I just download it and thats it? Theres no other steps?

Do as others said and goto Nvidia's website for your drivers.

The newest nvidia drivers need DirectX installed first :P

First i would build the computer if needed (don't know if u bought prebuilt or components), then i would do what jan listed :D .
