Just wondering, since some people already have them. Personally, I dont care for them im just going to buy me a nice Quad-core when the prices drop :D

I really wouldn't get an i7, I would need to spend $150 on new RAM, $250 on a new motherboard, and then $300 on a new CPU; totally not worth it IMO from the benchmarks I've seen.
 
il maybe get one next year,im waiting for the Q6600-Q6700S to go down so i can upgrade my processor.
 
Not just yet will consider it next time i completely redo my comp and once there more established
 
Well I am starting to wonder now what I should do since I am building from scratch.I am using an old P4 AGP computer and questions whether I should go ahead and bit the bullet on building a I7 system instead of a core 2 quad system.Should be some good price drops after the I7 hits the market solid on current quads but I am not sure.
 
Honestly, could you guys even tell the difference in real-world performance from a Core 2 Quad to an i7? I can't imagine spending $700+ (not including a new CPU cooler) just to be on top with no real need. Then again, maybe you guys are just freakin' rich. =P
 
Got my Asus P6T Deluxe and 6gigs of G.Skill DDR3 sitting here now . Core I7 920 will be here 11/17/08 ( pre ordered from Tank Guys.
 
Well a Asus rampage Mb will run you $290,a Q9550 will price at $320 ,HSF for the 1366 not sure $, but xig 1283s run you about $30 or so It seems the place you take the hit in the wallet is the DDR3 ram compared to DDR2 ram.

Anyone who is getting the I7 mind posting some prices of what they gave for their updated components?
 
i doubt i'm going to buy one, i'll either pick up a qx9650, and clock it to around 4.5ghz, or get an e8600, and try and get it to 5ghz
 
My new Ga-EX58-EXTREME board and core i7 920 will be here tuesday.
I had a core i7 but the board and cpu came doa so I have to wait for the company to send me an rma to get a refund so I ordered from somewhere else.
 
I don't like how intel named their i7's. I mean "920" that sounds like a Pentium D :D But yea... After the i7's come out im going to get me either a Q6600 or a Q8200
 
I got it from platinum micro but those came dead.
The replacements came from isorm.com, and 3qstore.
Stay away from platinum micro.
