Socket 1156 and 775 same mounts?

I want to use my TRUE cpu cooler on my new I5 setup, but it didn't come with 1156 mounts. But, I stick the 775 bracket on top of the 1156 stock HSF that came with my I5 and it seems to be the same exact size. Has anyone else noticed this? I really hope I can use my 775 bracket on any 1156 board I get to be able to use my TRUE cooler. That would be sweet!
 
I dunno worse case they sell the 1156 bracket.


Go try it and tell us the results. I just went a head and bought the 1156 bracket for my old mans V8 I5 build.
 
Oh I was under the impression that 1156 brackets weren't available for it.

I still haven't decided what motherboard I'm getting yet. Plus I'm waiting for an RMA refund to come back to me so I can use that money toward it.

The mount points aren't in the same spot, the points for 1156 are slightly further out that 775. That said a 775 bracket may still fit if it had a bit of wiggle room on 775.
 
Yeah I think it might have some wiggle room, atleast the mount for the TRUE I don't know about other mounts for other coolers. Still waiting for my refund on my RMA so I can purchase an 1156 board, I checked the tracking for USPS and it's still not even there yet. I think USPS screwed up and sent my package the wrong way at first, because it said it was in NJ....kinda the opposite way from CA. And it also said something about it got sent to get sorted. It was sent priority mail on saturday, should have been to newegg by yesterday really. Damn USPS.
