socket 478 mobo: can you find one?

Hey everybody,
i need a socket 478 mobo with at least 2 ide connectors, 20 or 20+4 power connector, at least one PCI slot, and at least 2 ddr2 184-pin ram slots. can anyone help? the only one i could find was a biostar and had some odd 24-pin power connector.

P4 boards were the first to use 24pins instead of the then 20pin standard. Once AMD adopted the additional 12v cpu feed on the Socket 754 models and later saw the 24pin power connectors on the 939 models all new boards use the 24pin standard.

There's an Abit micro atx model mixed in with the two oipen box and one retail Bopstar models seen at http://www.newegg.com/product/Produ...words&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA

Abit is one of the better but not top makes. But that is still a micro not full sized model. If you look at shopping sites, Amazon, and certainly EBay you'll find plenty of 478 boards while some odd names of makes besides Intel, Biostar, and a pair of MSI can be seen in the two pages at http://computers.pricegrabber.com/motherboards/p/40/1/form_keyword=motherboards+478+socket/st=page

Odd names? Maybe that's because he can't tell the difference between a workstation board and a desktop board. The E7200 series chipset is workstation/server class stuff. Not desktop.

Supermicro (for which I'm a dealer) and Tyan are a couple of the biggest names in workstation and server boards. Supermicro is a HUGE server vendor in the USA. All my latest server builds have been Supermicros.

Evidently he can't tell the difference between DDR and DDR2 boards either... But he can sure fill his post with drivel to make himself sound intelligent.

For S478 desktop boards there's only a handful in existence. Biostar and Asrock (Asus' value brand) are the only two I know of with DDR2 and S478. EDIT: I just remembered getting an email from a supplier advertising some no name generic manufacturer I never even heard of with an S478 board. It didn't have DDR2 though IIRC.. I'd have to check my emails again.

It's equally obvious the guy is a complete fraud because the Abit board he points out, while it may be an S478 board, is only for mobile Core Solo/Duo processors, not desktop processors.

God, what a loser.

Well butt face I am well aware of the differences between a server and desktop board. The link there is not for the Abit model but shows what was instock at newegg as far as 478 boards. In fact if you bothered to pull your head out of your $$$ you would also notice that the Abit board sees only one ide channel.

benihana99 is looking for one with two not one ide channels. Instead of butting in with your usual stupidity why you don't try posting something useful for a change.

so, my cause is hopeless?

It's not that it's "hopeless" per se.. It's just that your options are extremely limited. The Asrock, while not the best, is better than the Biostar most definitely. Personally, I would just spring for a new CPU/motherboard combo with a little better upgrade path.

so, my cause is hopeless?

Acording to him that would likely be yes!

The 3 Biostar and 1 Abit models were all 478 DDR2 boards with the Abit lacking one ide channel. When going to a shopping site the other site shows the type of mix you will end up with where you have to sort through and carefully look over each board to see what type and what it has.

Other sites like Amazon and EBay may see some there. As I was trying to explain earlier before ... the newer boards all see a 24pin main power socket while the only ones prior to Socket 939 models were server boards requiring them.

Well forget Amazon.com for the time being. Or you simply end up seeing a hihg price on a board like the one seen for the MSI Socket 478 model that runs DDR533/667 memory seen at http://atacom.com/program/print_htm...=1|MB47&Item_code=MB47_MICS_45_01&USER_ID=www

See what I mean? CLUELESS. Two of the Biostar boards are only DDR, the Abit board is only for mobile processors, not desktop processors. The guy is clueless, and what makes it worse is that he doesn't even know he's clueless.

After it's pointed out to him that the Abit board is only for mobile processors, he comes back and says the only problem with it is one IDE channel.

What a complete, total fraud/Google hack/loser.

That's what you are alright! Two of the Biostar models are what? Only the last open box model at the bottom the page uses DDR memory lame brain! Try disputing the facts with facts not the typical fabrications you are noted for!

The link there was to show what Socket 478 boards newegg was still carrying. You still have to look over the individual specifications on each. Both the Abit and the MSI model posted at the other link see only one ide channel. But the trend seen with most DDR2 boards is towards sata.

I just can't believe you had the guts to show your face back here. I realize your desire to try and twist things, to see if you can save face.. but the only way you could have done that was to be a man, admit you totally screwed up and backed down gracefully. Unfortunately that's a concept that's as foreign to you as the PC itself... so.. Trying to twist it is to be expected.

We all know the real PCeye now.. You might as well stop trying to fake it. Like Jerry Falwell, you've been exposed for the bad tempered, rather immature fraud/hack/poser that you really are.

Since, my friend, you have revealed your deapest fear.. I sentence you to be exposed before your peers.

TEAR DOWN THE WALL!!!!

:D

I see you have been looking in the mirror again instead of posting anything useful. That's the conduct I would expect to see out of an 8yr. old spoiled brat.

Now where was something like that seen I wonder? I won't even waste the time trying to find one to toss in here.

That's right.. All three of those came from you, the person who not only gets called out in almost every thread he posts in, gets his arse kicked and handed to him in pieces, then starts flinging names, mud and stupid pictures, he's also the one calling someone else an "8 yr old spoiled brat".

Things that make you go "hmmmmmm".

You're the only one flinging names at people. As far as pictures the only one here is simply to show that two of the Biostar boards seen at the link are "DDR2" not DDR boards like "you" were claiming they were?!

You never even looked over the actual specifications being too busy running the mouth off. Or can you read board specs? Gee one has to wonder. hhhmmmm...

I won't insult the OP's own intelligence by posting the names that best suit you from all of your activities!

OMG. Your post calling me "butt head" was deleted. The pictures you post all over of the tombstones and road signs with SirKenin insults. The screwups you made on your board recommendations (well, every recommendation you ever make, really). Jesus Christ.

No, that's it. You're a bloody oblivious fool. I've had enough of you. I'm not even going to address the rest of your asinine stupidity. I've actually officially lost my patience with you. God. A hamster has more intelligence.

The best thing anyone can do is to forget you even exist. With any luck the majority of people here will realize you're a complete tool and ignore you. The ones that don't and actually pay heed to your POS "google advice" get what they deserve. So many more important things I could be doing than wasting my time on some raucous old washed-up, wannabe, has-been Google-hack.

Unbelievable. I've seen some real wankers in this industry, but this one takes the cake.
