Socket A Mobo

So my older secondary computer has a Socket A processor. It's a Biostar M7NCD pro: http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=M7NCD PRO

The PC just recently started having all sorts of lock-up and bluescreen problems. I think for sure it's the memory, it seems fine when I take it down to just 1 stick (512 MB). So I went ahead and ordered 3x 1GB DDR 400 memory sticks. While I was at it the video card (AGP) and power supply needed upgraded and a fan went out so I replaced that too.

Well with the new memory in it locks up just as much and now it won't even get past the loading screen. Also the BIOS splash-screen is all messed up so I think the BIOS could be corrupt. At times the screen won't turn on at all and I have to manually clear BIOS (with a jumper) before I can even get back in to the BIOS. I've tried every BIOS setting possible, with Optimized defaults being the only thing that allows the computer to run, even for a short amount of time before locking up.

So, after all of this, the Mobo must be bad right? Should I replace with another Socket A Mobo? Are there any still sold that you would recommend? I hate to have just wasted $300 on all these parts that won't work in a more recent Mobo. Thanks for any advice.

Do you recommend replacing with something other than Socket A since these seem sparsely available? The components I have are 3GB DDR 400 memory, Athlon 2700+ XP proc, AGP 8x video card. If I have to bite the bullet and buy a new proc then I guess I have to. Please help, what should I replace my mobo with?

If you're fairly convinced it's your mobo then you can get a replacement, there's one on ebuyer (literally one)

but personally I would upgrade to something slightly more recent, in which case, it depends what you want to use it for really!

Is there something more recent that won't require me to throw out all my components? I'm basically at the end of my budget (didn't want to spend $300 on this one in the first place). It's a secondary PC, but is used some for gaming.

there's not really anything that uses the RAM that you bought I'm afraid, it's quite old. as for the graphics card, there may be a mobo or 2 that still use AGP, though not necessarily, all the low end ones I looked at (intel) were pci express. as for the power supply, they're fairly generic, so that should work for whatever you buy, assuming it's got the 12v line, which most do these days
I'll have a look for a cheap system (may include onboard gfx, so you can upgrade later)
