Hey
I'm new to this pc stuff, but I'm willing to learn. how do you know what socket is your mobo? From what I've been reading the 939 socket board is the way to go as far as upgrading goes in the future. so anyway how can i tell whick one i have.

lol yes assuming your CPU and mobo work together, your CPU can also tell you.

if you'll simply post your motherboard or CPU we can tell you what socket you have.

you can also download a nice little program from www.cpuid.com called "cpuz" and run it. it will give you that information and MUCH more regarding your system which can be very helpful.

Everest is a good tool, but if your upgrading then you might want to just look into CPUz and find out your processor info and post it, we are good at helping pick good boards

well i dont know too much about this stuff im just learning, but i have a dell demsions xpsT600 P3, i dont know if this will help you guys...hopefully it will.

Well your definetly not going to have socket 939 or any AMD at that, dell only uses Intel processors.

ok thx any specific band i should look into...foxcoon, asus, or dfi? I'm not really into games, but music i am, so i would like a mobo thats will support a good sound card and give me really great sound.

You want to have really great speakers to, sounds replys on your spearks more then your sound card now a days, but a good sound card will help, but dont jsut think on I'll go buy the best sounds card ever and this stock speakers and it'll sound great!

well you'll need a new case and a new powersupply cause dell uses wierd cases and psus. So if you want to upgrade to a amd 64 s939 system you'd need to basically upgrade everything. Case, psu, probably memory, motherboard, and cpu.

on the sound issue...If you allready have a nice sound system in your possesion, something more than a boombox, just run audio wires from your computer to your reciever or whatever you listen to cd's/radio with,(given that your reciever or whatever you have, has aux. audio inputs.)
