Yeah thanks its got some german thing on it "krueger" The lcd unit itself isnt really labled. Ive taken some pics of its internals if that helps! and one of the front (im not too sure if its a led display or possibily something else?)
The serial plugs you see basically go off out the back (need to attach some plugs to the ends) Im under the impression one plug controls the top display and the other controls the lower display.
Have you tried asking the airline you got the sign from what software to use? It's fairly easy to write a program that spits binary data out of serial ports but without knowing what needs to get sent out who knows what it will do to the sign.
Oh ok, yeah the airline was pretty vaugue, we allready tried to contact them. they said it was managed by contractors and had no idea of the software or couldnt even remember what contractors they dealed with. Which is a big shame. um could it actually damage the sign with the wrong software?
I don't think you can damage it but I don't know how it works so it might use some memory to store the message. If you power the sign up does anything scroll across?
Well if you don't get any help from vultron and can give me a day or so (I need to be at home and I wont be until sometime tomorrow) I can write a program that will send data out of the serial ports. Since the sign apparently has no memory it should be safe to experiment because at worst you just have to unplug it.
Hi guys thanks for all your help. We managed to get the sign working!! Runs off a sorta dodgy dos program. Its all good. I appreciate all the help you guys have given me!!!
