I am considering getting a refurbished laptop, mainly because I have a voucher from a class action suit settlement that will get a complete laptop with one proviso.... the laptop options come with no software. what softwarewould I need to purchase to be able to do the usual...internet, office stuff, playing music, videos, etc.

being a newbie here, thanks for any assistance.

Will it need an operating system installed? If not, you will need that. What are the specs of this laptop?

When you say no software do you mean it has no windows os installed or do you must mean no 3rd party software to make it useful ?

I would get Windows 7 Home Premium and when you get the installed get Libre Office or Open Office, they are free open programs. I run them other than buy MS Office, for a start. And Avast Free Antivirus also, once you get Windows installed.
