Software in External Drive

I have recently installed some software on an external drive. I have two home computers at home (mine + spouse) and wish to go back and forth between them with the external drive. The problem is when I plug it into the 2nd computer I get a message saying the computer or user is not recognized. How can I fix this problem?

I believe he's saying that he's installing program onto the external drive, and he want to be able to plug it into either of the computers and get it to work.

If so, the problem is most likely caused by the fact that when you install a program, it also creates registry files and installs little bits of information in your windows directory. So when you move the drive to a different computer, it doesnt have those "little bits" of information, and usually it wont run correctly.

External drive software not recongized

I think that is exactly what is happening! Is there any way I can “fix” that?

The actual program opens up on my computer when I click on that drive, but then I get a grey box saying “the username is invalid or serial # not recognized”. I’ve asked several people about this and had someone told me that I will actually have to “crack” it. What does this mean??? How is that possible?
