Software question

Hi I hope I'm not double posting or anything. But I was wondering if I should buy a downloadable version of windows 7 or have a friend install it for $20. And if I was to go the downloadable route if I could burn it to a CD/DVD?
 
You can download the Windows 7 ISO's for free. You just need a product key to activate it.
 
Well I have another thread on here I had my hard drive crash on my laptop and had a friend give me his old broken notebook with the compatible hard drives. But it came with Windows 7 starter edition and it's saying the product key is invalid and have a little less than 3 weeks before it expires. So I'm trying to figure out how to get either a working product key for the starter edition or upgrade to the full version.
 
Just go on Newegg and purchase an OEM copy. Because if I remember correctly, your laptop originally had Vista installed on it.

Yea but I had a friend install windows 7 when I first bought it said he's install it again on the hard drive out of the notebook for $20. I know the software itself is over $100 I'd rather upgrade to windows 8 for a few dollars more than windows 7 again. I see companies selling downloadable versions for around $50 with product key.
 
Yes I had the software for about 4 years before my hard drive crashed on me, the notebook hard drive keeps saying I have so many days to activate it.

That doesn't mean it was genuine.

That's because you swapped it into a completely different PC so it requires reactivation. Just buy a new copy of Windows 7 or 8, format and install, and be done with it.
 
You can download it for free rather then wasting precious money. Search over files download sites, and always look at comments to see is it working or not and does it has viruses inside, is it safe etc.

Then after downloading burn it on your DVD disc as ISO image option. Boot PC, run it, install it, done!
