Some questions about my new, kick-@$$ gaming system

Ok. Will my Ultra X-Connect 500 watt power supply be enough to power this system? And also, is there any ATI cards that I can use with that mobo? It has SLI, pci0e 1x, 4x, and 16x. I'm just making the jump to pic-e so i don't know much about it. Thanks! And, will that processor be compatible with windows?

Motherboard: DFI LANparty NF4 SLI-D socket 939

Processor: AMD Athlon 63 3700+, 1mb cache, 2000mhz FSB, socket 939

Memory: Ultra 512mb, pc3200, 400mhz (four of these)

Hard drive: Samsung 120gb 7200rpm, 8mb buffer, IDE

Power supply: Ultra x-connect 500 watt modular

Case: Ultra MS blue dragon

Misc. stuff:
Ultra Blue cold cathode tube

Ultra yellow cold cathode tube

There are ATI card's that'll work, and of corse AMD is compatible with windows... Also for the video card its going to use a PCI-E 16
the otehrs are for other stuff.

you can put a normal pci-e card into the pc. unfortunately, if you want to use the sli function (so to put another grafics card in there) youll need a SLI ready card. (the only SLI cards are from NVidia. the 6600GT 6800GT/ULTRA and the 7800GTX / GT )

so if yo want SLI you need a SLI-ready card. if you just want 1 card, yo just need a pci-e card ;)

So I'll go ahead and get that x800 then
why are you buying an sli board if you not going to sli it? and if you going to put in ati, are you hoping to cross fire it later.

Memory: Ultra 512mb, pc3200, 400mhz (four of these)
2gb of ram? maybe more than you need even for gaming, maybe get 1gig and maybe pick up some at cl2 or cl2.5

Hard drive: Samsung 120gb 7200rpm, 8mb buffer, IDE
your board supports sata, any reason for sticking to ide?

skip the sli and get 1 powerfull card. like a 7800 gtx or gt. ull be better off and more future proof

as to the ram, ill agree that u only should get 1 gig, but dont waste to much cash trying to get cas 2 or 2.5, u wont notice any damn difference from 3.

o and u should buy ur stuff from newegg.com .... tigerdirect is horrid.

to ur question on what crossfire is... its ATI's version of SLI.

i was wondering the same thing. upgrade that drive to sata 2. i just bought a new sys on tigerdirect and got the hitachi 250 gig sata 2 and plan on getting another to run in raid. tigerdirect only carrys two sata 2 drives the hitachi 80gig and 250gig(not sure why). i would suggest getting two 80 gig and run them in raid. youll be glad u did. its such a performance boost.

I've already donw lots of business with tiger direct.....They're scores better than NewEgg. Their prices are cheaper too. As for ATI's crossfire, will it work with an SLI board? Are their crossfire cards out yet?
