hi
as of most people i got a new pc with windows vista which is a pain. i wanted xp as it is so much stable. i thought ok i will try vista but after a year i decided it was time to downgrand to xp. So i found a copy of xp pro at my house and it has no services packs. so i thought i would back up all my stuff on my extertial hard drive. so i did. then on the boot i put my xp pro disk in and it got the install up when through it no problem but then i got to the formating. and i notced something a bit weirrd. it as saying i noyl have 1 hard drive which i do but it was only 133GB big and i was thinking thi si worng my hard drive is actully 298GB its like xp did not know any thing bigger than that. so i installed the xp on the 133GB bit of the drive and ti foramted it and everything. then i went throguth the setup process of xp pro and i got onto my desktop fine the windows was worknig it would load up with xp fine. but i went onto my comoputer and found the hard drive was only 133GB which si what it fomated but i can't think why it did not detect my whole drive of 298 GB so its like i have lost hlaf my hard drive. hmm starge.
i put in the reinstall for vista and it was detecting the whoel of my drive of 298GB to fomat and install on. but i did not want vista back so i kept the xp on. i have no idea why this is happing wtih only 133GB
Another problem i have si that went i am on xp pro i plug my wireless atpator in and nothing happens i try my extenarl hard drive and the same nothing happens. likes the usb has been disabled or soemthing it has not because i go on bios and its in enabled. Then i reinstalled vista and thne all my usb decives work again.
What is the porblems i am getting hmm i have no idea. i don't know if xp pro with no update can suport wireless because you need a later verson of xp but it seesm weird for it not to detect any thing.
My cumputer is a dell inspiron 531.
with 3GM RAm
and a 2.81 dual core processer
Help please any ideas???????????
