Using 2 sticks will give you dual channel capability but if you only use 1 stick of 4 then you can get another stick of 4gb later for 8gb of memory, which should be standard now anyway. Just make sure you buy the another stick of the same speed and timings.

well i have 2x2gb right now,and i want to put one of 4gb so i'll have 2x2gb and 1x4gb in 3 slots,is there a problem with that or should i throw away the and put 2x4gb?

You may lose dual channel running 3 slots. If you want 8 gb then get another stick of 4gb, remember get the same speed and timings and then sell the 2 x 2gb sticks.

You can balance the capacities by putting 2x2 on one channel physically and then the 4 GB stick on the other. Then the controller won't even have to interleave and you'll get consistent dual channel performance.
