All right. a legit question. I help people all the time, family and mostly neighbors. My Neighbors are older than me, 70, 80 and 90.
They have internet for keeping in contact with family mostly.
People have a computer, one account, and can't access.
How in the blue moon can i fix this. I don't want to strip it.
Too time consuming. I have several accounts with back up and emergency's.
And these people don't have a clue. In this case forgot the password.
I think. ......

Boot to safe mode, log onto the administrators account and go into user accounts and remove the password. This will only work if they have XP.

If its vista or windows 7 then do a google search on forgot windows password for windows 7/vista.

Also check out the "net user" command in command prompt. If you do it from another account with admin privileges you should be able to clear/reset/change the password of any account.

But Linkin, I am confused. If you can access the computer with Adminstrator privileges then you can simple goto user account and change the password.

he's talking about access from boot process and dos prompt.
I doubt it will be that easy to do. i will investigate the command.
Remember i can't get into the windows in the first place.

Hirens' Boot CD is a collection of useful freeware programs for all kinds of computer maintenance. There may or may not be a program on there that might be of assistance to you.

I would say use hirens....JUST BE CAREFUL when using it. I have seen people mess things up using it. as long as you are smart with it you will be fine though
