Tomorrow, (thursday) I have to spend all night setting up somebody's computer with... VISTA! I'm sooooo scared!jest kiddin

Yeah, it's an Acer Aspire 3100 with 512 ram, 80 gig hd, 1.8gig AMD Sempron 3200+ with vista home basic.

This is my first time with vista!

Should be fine, vista is already dubbed the fowl demon spawn of Microsoft before anyone can test it for themselves, as usual they lap up what the mass media tells them to think. "Vista = MS so therefore Vista = Bad". I run vista 60% of the time, the rest is spent in XP and it honestly isnt that bad, the few things bad with ti are picked up on by the media and fanboys and magnified ten-fold simply because its microsoft and they can never do anything right in the eyes of the sheepish consumer...

But enough of me ranting, down to the specs, you might want a tad more RAM in there, like 1Gb to run it real smoothly, the rest should just about do, what graphics card do you have in there?

ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 Graphics

We were planning on upgrading to 1 gig ram.

like I said, i was jest kidding. :P

i'm actually sorta looking forward to vista!

Lawl at kev, theres nothing to worry about.

Just make sure you keep XP cause it's still a pretty good OS...

Huh? The laptop came pre-installed with vista, so I have no choice. I'm not upgrading ALL my computers to vista. All of my other computers have xp and they are going to stay that way. I even bought a copy of xp in advance for my new computer.

The 512MB of RAM is gonna hurt you, I remember when XP was new and 512MB was not enough for anything past internet surfing and word

Yeah it did. I'm definitely going to upgrade it to 1gig. Overall, i'm not too disappointed with vista. I think it'll just take some getting used to.

Xp is still THE KING though...
