im building a gaming machine from scratch and ive been told all sorts of confusing and brain rattling stuff. so if someone with actual knowledge could help me id really appreciate it.

ive been told that the Chaintech nVidia NForce 4 Ultra Chipset motherboard for AMD socket 939 was the way to go. also i want to explore the pci express thing. and for the motherboard if u have any ideas on cpu's im all ears. thanx everyone!!! :D

im not rich but i dont want the bottom of the barrel either, so im looking for mid range here ok.

oki can help bu i will need some info...
1.wha type of prosseser do u want and how fast(i suggest an amd 3000+ or higher the problem with a 939 socket is that they are kinda spendy if u cant find a deal but some times u can be lucky)

2.what type of vid. card do u want ATI or Nvidia ether or they are both good it is just users choice

3. sound card is ether onboard or PCI card (depends on waht u wans do u care if u have 5.1 choices or juses bottem uf the line stuff)

4.hard drive also depends on how big i would choose an 80gb or bigger like 120gb

ive thought about getting a MSI K8NNeo 4 Platinum SLI 939 with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and a XFX GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3 PCI express card, and two sticks of ultra 512MB DDR 3200 RAM

seems like a pretty good setup to me. If its mostly gaming, you probably wont need much else than that stuff

DFI Lanparty4 and MSI K8N Neo4 are pretty much top of the class

The MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (thats the SLI board) should be cheaper but the DFI LanParty 4 (non-SLI) is the cheaper of the two

Wont matter all that much

If thats an issue, the MSI K8N Neo has onboard sounblaster....

Really really doesnt matter
