This is the monitor i really want.

It looks like it has good connectivity and should be good for awhile. It has a nice high gloss screen which to me seems to make the colors more vibrant does that screen normally do this? Anyway is there another monitor that is better/ as good as this for the same or better price?
 
would hdmi be something i should get on a monitor now for the future? And does this have one of those glossy screens?

Before jumping on anything shop around a bit. Lately the prices have fallen somewhat on some great models. LG, Nec, Viewsonic, and others have seen price drops on the widescreen models over what is typical for the standard display models.

The manufacturer's page while not reflecting the much lower price paid in a retail store shows the extras like usb ports and the option of docking an IPod on the 19" model bought here lately as a replacement. The base stand actually sits up higher which is why I went for it over the standard I had intended on originally. http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx2245wm/

To replace the old 17" seeing constant go into standby mode problems I had looked at the large price drop from $270 down to $199.99 now less on the 5ms model seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116098

Hanns G has a 22" model to look over seen for about $250- at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254020

What was nice about finding a sale locally was "no wait" and " no S&H charges".
