something completely weird happened with my internet

i started some downloads tonight not expecting anything out of the ordinary. well, after about 5 minutes i noticed that some of the things i was downloading were going quite fast. for the last 7 months or so, our DL speeds were maxed out at about 102kbps. but tonight i noticed that i was hitting around 499kbps. we haven't changed anything with our ISP. anyone have any idea as to why or how this could happen?

so your downloads are around 387 KB/s to 641 KB/s. so the times you were geting 102KP/s, i would say it was just the oterside that is slow
 
but why would my speeds all of a sudden jump up like that? it had been at a max of about 100 for the past 7 months or so...
