Something the motherboard doesn't like?

Just got a new PC from dinopc.com and my friend has had it on from 10am this morning to install all the drivers and programs, and came back to it an hour ago and found it had shutdown, when tried to power it up it keeps flashing on and off and keeps going to start up then stops, and continues doing this until you switch it off by the switch at the back.

This new pc has got 2 HDD's 1 1tb and 1 500GB, my friend has mentioned it could be second HDD, but to me it sounds like the PSU.

I thought people at dinopc would know what they are doing with pcs?!

Oh and by the way my friend said that when he first switched it on the LED lights in the comp flashed twice be4 powering up, he thought he'd pressed the button twice.

I am so angry atm, i never have any luck when purchasing computer stuff!

What are the rest of the specs of the pc?

1. cpu
2. motherboard
3. video card
4. power supply - need model number

CPU: Intel core i5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz
CPU cooler: Thermaltake frio
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz
Hard drives: 1TB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
500GB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 6870 1GB
PSU: 650W Corsair TX Ultra-Quiet

If it is a dodgy PSU, would you bother sending it back or just replacing the PSU?

The corsair tx650 is a good psu, although it could have issues. You can try putting in a different psu to see what happens. But I have a feeling this is more of a wiring/grounding/shorting out issue.

I thought it had something to do with the power cable not obtaining enough power, you see we have loads of plugs in and i thought maybe it could have something to do with that? Im going to try switching it on again now, haven't tried since it last happened, if it comes on i know its a different problem and will come back to you guys.

Oh and will email you what company says when they reply.

Right guys it's now back up and running, i had to reset the cmos.
Everything seemed to be going fine until i started re-installing a game on steam, firstly it completely locked up on 98% and i had to hold the power button and reboot...Next got the game up, but when i tried changing gfx settings it went to a blue screen saying to make sure new hardware is correctly installed and something about process dump...i decided to just reboot and see if the same happened again...this time it let me play the game for about 5 mins then i closed the game and was about to install another game on steam and the same blue message appeared...

It just seems to be one problem after another.

Oh and everytime it loads up to desktop i get this error message twice "Access violation at address E7AB5322. Read of address E7AB5322."
What could this mean?

Another thing, when you have 2 HDD's does the second one show up on my computer cos it doesn't show up on mine :S

I apologize for being such a noob!

Lets find out why the blue screens.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

If there is no data on the second drive then most likely you need to go into disk management and partition/format the drive.

thanks for your clear instructions, as i went to copy the txt it went to that blue screen again!!!

Here's the txt:

What video card do you have and what operating system are you running? Is it windows 7 64 bit? Most of these are referencing bad driver.

looked in programs on control panel and its only got AMD catalyst install manager and i cant uninstall it just gives me option of changing it or repairing it, does this mean i can just install the one ive downloaded?

Right click on my computer and go to device manager. In that screen find your vifeo card and right click on it and select uninstall driver, thats the more pain in the butt way to do it.

Thanks everyone for your replies, i have now sorted the problem out. It was windows 7 64bit that was causing all errors, so re-installed 32bit and no problems whatsoever *touch wood*
