Something wrong with my xbox...

I have recently been having problems loading game discs on my X-box, I normally get an error message saying "Your disc may be damaged or dirty, please eject the X-Box game, DVD, or audio CD to continue." I get that about 15 times before it actually works... That's not weird, except one thing. THIS IS A BRAND NEW DISC. I have tried cleaning the lens with a q-tip, but with little success. Is there any way to fix this error?

EDIT: This is an original X-box, not a 360.

Did you just use a q-tip, or did you use a q-tip and alcohol? Also, the laser could just be going bad.

I would have thought cleaning the lense would have done it. As Yasu said with a q-tip with alcohol. Other then that I just do not know. Bad laser as Yasu mentioned? maybe. Might just be a good enough excuse to replace it with the 360. I know that don't help you.

Hehe, I'd spend the 15 minutes each time I turn it on before I buy a 360. Don't get me wrong, they're great, but there's only one reason I would ever buy it, and waiting until that reason comes out. Halo 3 Limited Collector's Edition.
