If you put an Windows CD inside it it will boot from it (after POST) ... but when you get to windows and put another cd in it, it wont work, either Windows or anything else.. I have completed several Windows installations on it too...

control panel somewhere sorry i dont know but for windows vista i know, in vista you can choose what you want windows to do ie if you put in an audio cd you can play it or open the folder or if you insert a game you can autorun it or nothing etc etc

Sometimes I get the same problem, this program from Microsoft helped me out. Not sure if it's the same problem as yours though.

I definitely know it will read CD's now... My brother put the Halo CD in and booted off it !
