Sometimes low performance, sometimes high performance.

Hello,

I recently got a new laptop with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 850m video card.
Using the software GeForce Experience I can optimize the performance and graphics on various games. For example, I play League of Legends and the software optimized League of Legend's performance. Also, I always start LoL by using the launch option in GeForce Experience.

Sometimes LoL will run with a nice 130-170 fps, but also sometimes it will run with only 10-30 fps. It seems very random to me when the game will run at a high fps rate or a low fps rate.

Does anyone have a clue why it sometimes runs with such low fps and how to fix it?

I found the problem. Whenever my charger is plugged in, it runs with a high FPS rate. When it is not plugged in, games run with a very low FPS rate.

Is there a way in which games will run with high fps without having to plug in my charger?

Thanks in advance.

When your laptop is plugged in it goes in to high performance mode and uses all the power it can for better performance. When your not plugged in it will go in to power saving and do the reverse. Uses less power but also lower performance. You can manually enable high performance mode when not plugged in but your battery life will be pretty much crap and last maybe an hour or so of actual gaming.

If you want to play games on power saving mode you'll probably have to try some 2D games or lower settings in your 3D games.

Thanks a lot for your reply, it helped. It's just that sometimes I just have to unplug the charger to let my laptop cool down a bit, because it can get really hot.
