Should this be fixed right away or do these used laptop fans make noise when they're older? Is it an expensive fix to get a new fan put in? It's an IBM Thinkpad.
Sounds like the bearing of the fan may be going out. I had an older computer which this occured on, after finally collecting enough dust and gim.. and making that noise it infally stopped.. Replace if you can, but keep an eye (or ear) on it.
