Sony Laptop Problem

So i was replacing the keyboard in my mother in laws, vgn fs740/w its a sony vaio laptop.

Anyways long story short after hooking up the new keyboard when the laptop is turned on the screen right from post is completely fuzzy.

ive checked by hooking up the laptop to my monitor and it works fine, one thing that i did notice i think is weird. when i plug a vga cable into the laptop when powering the laptop on the laptops lcd is normal again but only while the vga cable is plugged in, but once it boots into windows it goes back to fuzzy.

the laptop worked completely fine untill the keyboard was changed.

Any ideas would be great

i notice while switcing the keyboard right underneith is like a switch box
its got 4 white pins that slide up or down essentially like a lightswitch its either up or down no middle. not sure what it does and i havent been able to find a service manual

Those switches could be many things, but I doubt they'd have anything to do with the video. Typically they control stuff such as resetting the CMOS, maybe bus speeds, and stuff like that.

So it's clear when you have VGA plugged in? Well depending on the laptop, it may change the frequency/Hz displayed when VGA is connected.

Have you removed the keyboard and tried running without it? Perhaps even running using an external keyboard and no internal keyboard?

Have you confirmed the cable from the LCD is securely plugged into the motherboard and there are no cuts or shorts in it?

Also, is it blurry on the external monitor?

no its perfectly clear on the external, and its clear on the laptop lcd till it loads windows then it goes back to fuzzy, only if the vga cable is plugged into the external port though if i unplug it the screen goes back fuzzy, and yes ive checked the lcd keyboard and even booted itwith not keyboard with the same results.

its gotta be something real easy or something extremely goofy it was completely fine till i switched the keyboard and then the screen went bonkers

post screen and bios are only clear when i have a vga cable plugged in ( for some reason) as soon as i un plug the vga cable lcd goes fuzzy again thats why i said it weird that having that plugged in would show the post screen clear but as soon as it is unplugged it goes fuzzy

Oookay ok, gotcha, so it is certainly hardware. Have you checked the video cable to confirm it's fully seated? I can't think of much else unless something got damaged during the swap. No harm in confirming the RAM/wifi/any expansion cards aren't affecting anything...

yea ive tested all them, im not sure what is wrong. looks like its gunna end up being sold on ebay. i had a buddy come over and he couldnt figure it out either
