Sony lose Final Fantasy Exclusivity

Well it was something that a lot of us FF fans thought wouldnt happen, Sony has lost its exclusivity to the Final Fantasy genre (the main games not the spin offs) and the next installment, FF XIII will be realeased for Xbox360 too.

Happy with that myself, although i have wanted a PS3, my only true reason for needing one at the moment has been to play the next final fantasy game, now I can play it on my Xbox instead so no need for spending out on a PS3
 
I suppose you could say Sony had exclusivity for Final Fantasy but really, FFXI, FFVII and FFVIII are available on PC as well. And Final Fantasy started on Nintendo way back when.

The other thing is these new consoles have similar hardware so it's really silly to keep a title exclusive unless you are getting good money to do so. The sales from being able to expand the audience could even overcome that if the game is well done, attracts people to the series and entices them to buy the previous/future installments. That said, most of the xbox crowd seems like they wouldn't like the game as much a new gears of war or something.
 
aye they did port to the PC with those games but it was generally after a fairly long time before they did, Square Enix had said previously that they would remain as Sony titles only so this was fairly big U turn for them, as you say its a good move though.

Well it's good news for me as I'm interested in the FF series and now I can play it in HD without having to shell out another 300 squids for a PS3 which I'd only use 3 games for anyway.
 
why would they not take advantage of the 360's success though? it seems silly to stay with the console that seems to be drifting behind in the console wars
 
Well in the UK PS3 sales have surpassed the Xbox, and the Playstation brand has been around for longer so more people know about it. P.S. the ad below ukulele's post is advertising for FFXI gold. :P
