Its all depend what is your maxium gb of ram you can upgrade to. Check your manual or go to sony and check the spec on your sony or goes to the link I just mention and it will tell you right away.

you don't have to upgrade both slots at once, you can upgrade one at a time
howvever, make sure that you buy the correct ram type for your computer
