Sony Vegas Help!

Ok so I am using Sony Vegas 8 for a school project but I am having major problems...

So I am having trouble with the rate of the video. Which is the place where you can change the rate of the video and make yourself sound like a person with a low or high voice. The thing is though when I actually render the video which I believe is when you save it, it will not save the high pitched rate sound I had on there... How do I keep the sound rate the same while saving a video?

Also when I save the video why is it so huge? 8 min video and it is over 2Gb...... Ridiculous...... So what is the real way to actually save (export) a video where it isn't huge?

How do I do all these things while saving? Thanks!!

I was rendering it to AVI which I think that was the file size problem.

But the real question is how do I keep the high pitched audio rate the same while saving?

I haven’t had problems with it. Saving in AVI does indeed use a lot of space. I suggest MPEG for what you’re doing. Since I make videos for my church, family, and School I use High Deff which uses about 50gb per 10 mins.
