Sony vs HP vs Dell

Which one do you consider is better as an overall brand (laptop).

Say which company and model you have, and say which ones you have had, and pretty much say why its good or bad...

I don't have a model for you, but i like HP, they are good, otherwise Sony.

Dell are "alright" but i wouldn't highly recommend them like i do HP or sony, or some of the other high major brands.

I personally prefer Dell's and HP's over Sony's. In my experience, I found that Sony PC's came with quite a bit of crap that you couldn't get rid of, and it just put me off. I like PC's with minimal manufacturer installations, just Windows. Dell's are fairly stable (in experience), and HP are great for the money. Dell and Sony are expensive for what they are, in my opinion.

I would place HP first and Sony last. Not that Sony's are necessarily bad machines, however it is hard to argue that they are not overprices. Sony focuses a lot on style and an HP or Dell compared to a similarly specced Sony will be quite cheaper. On that note, Dells generally are even a bit cheaper than HP, but not by that much, and HP has better customer service, and debatably higher quality machines.

Acer = Hell.

HP= Pretty much the mac of the pc. Always high quality,some look super with their rotating displays so it's pretty much highclass pc with great quality.

Sony = Kinda over priced however their kinda sexy (but the AR71ZU is not as nice as the MBP) however style is their thing and style is what lots of consumer (girl gender) buys

Dell = Call or go online hmm. Just not recommended

right then,

I have a Sony Vaio FZ21M. I only had one gripe, it originaly came with Vista. However, I wanted to downgrade to XP (as all my music software does not compute with Vista).
And right there is the point - what will you use it for?
I then only realised that some Sony Vaio's only come and are compatible with Vista (no possibility to downgrade to XP). I, on the other hand decided to see if I could find the XP drivers from other sources. Which I did (it took three weeks however). I completely "claved" the hard drive and installed what I wanted/needed - and nothing else....

Now, some 12 months or so later - it's a shedload faster than it was with Vista, infact, if I can be so bold - its the most stable puter I've ever had (since the 80's... lol).
So, in conclusion, my Sony does exactly what I want it to, when I want it to and fast... (music creation related stuff generally!!!)

i would place HP then Sony then Dell, i have had some bad experiences with dell, and their customer support wasnt really that useful for me.
