Sorta confused here

link doesn't work for me... could you explain what it is? (like exact title) or provide another link...

EDIT: just a question... is it Windows Vista? if it is... i'd suggest waiting for a while (like 6+ months for Microsoft to work the bugs, security issues, etc. out) before buying... XP will do the trick for a very long time before and upgrade is essential...

not windows vista....waiting on that one for sure! the link is to windows marketplace which is like where microsoft sells all its fantabulous (hint of sarcasm) merchandise including OSs. Anyway the one i gave a link to was windows xp professional w/ SP2- upgrade 2. something like that....any ideas?

i cant seemto get on that link either now...wierd

or can you just point me into the direction where i can buy the newest windows xp os (pref. professional but im willing to look at home)...?

OEM - cheaper... but major hardware changes might complicate any reinstall's you may try... most likely you will get stuck talking to MS on the phone for a while to get it to work...

Retail - more expensive... but can easily be reinstalled after hardware changes...

EDIT: also... do you need an upgrade version or the full one???

Upgrade
- cheaper, if you have any other previous MS OS, then use this option... it's cheaper but requires the previous OS to be installed before continuing with the XP install...

Full - more expensive, used when you have no previous MS OS... (the link to the Retail version on the top is an actual Full version of XP Pro SP2)...

yes... but like i said... it's a pain in the ass if you ever want to make hardware changes... i've heard horror stories where microsoft wouldn't let you install YOUR operating system on YOUR computer after you changed some slight little thing...

EDIT: the link to the OEM version is a full version...

k ill have to ponder over this one, but thnx a lot...if you could just answer me one more question as i head out...is it worth buying xp professional or should i just go with xp home and then upgrade to vista in like 6 months?

i'm personally probably going to use XP Pro until they come out with the next OS after Vista... i am very skeptic of new OSes and it takes me a while to upgrade, new OSes just have to many security faults that aren't forseen... so i like to stick with what works... just for your info, before this i was a 98SE user for the longest time...

it's all up to you and what you feel comfortable with...

EDIT: that ain't much of an answer, but it's up to you... i'm not going to be the one to use the OS, you are :)...
