Sound does not work at all

For some reason I have not had any sound on my computer for the past 6 months and it's starting to drive me nuts i've dowloaded Realtek so many times and undowloaded it and nothings work. I'm at the point where I want to sell the computer can anybody help me figure out how to restore the sound. I went to my device manager and under the sound, video and game controllers there's all exclaimation points. The type of computer that I have is a Window's XP professional, Intel Pentium, Optiplex GX620, Dell computer idk if that helps. but someone please help!

That's because it's not realtek.

Ok i downloaded it and it's still not working. :/

Look in your device manager and see if all entries under sound is now installed properly.
